It is said that ordinary
conference facilities and hotels measure their meeting space in square feet.
At Turf Valley Resort & Conference Center, in Ellicott City, Maryland,
they measure their meeting space in acres! In all, Turf Valley offers the
region's premier golf resort and conference center with meeting facilities
for groups of 10 - 1,000 guests.
Turf Valley attributes its warmth and charm to being family owned and
operated. A half century ago, Turf Valley was a picturesque horse farm where
fine thoroughbred galloped and grazed over the "turf." Nicholas
and Mary Mangione purchased Turf Valley Country Club in 1978. The Mangione
family nurtured Turf Valley from a private golf club to become the area's
foremost catering establishment. Their dreams to build a hotel amid the golf
courses was realized in 1988. From its tranquil pastoral beginnings, Turf
Valley has flourished and grown to become the Northeast's Premier Resort and
Conference Center.
At the close of a long day of work or play, retreat to the comfort and
privacy of the resort's guest accommodations. From 223 beautiful hotel rooms
and suites overlooking the scenic South course, to the 2100 square foot Golf
Villas perched high on the crest of a hill, Turf Valley is perfectly
suited as a romantic weekend getaway or a temporary residence for a
relocating executive and family.
No other resort in the Northeast can compare to Turf Valley for golf. Its
54 championship holes nestled in the heart of Maryland's prestigious
and beautiful hunt country are sure to beat the competition. The East
Course is the most challenging design. Its tight, tree-lined fairways
place a premium on accuracy off the tee. Some dramatic elevation changes at
times make club selection difficult. Many greens are guarded by bunkers, and
streams keep popping up to grab wayward shots. The South Course is
more open, shorter and therefore easier. It has an abundance of quality par
4's of less than 400 yards that challenge your club selection off the tee
more so than in the fairway. The terrain undulates severely at times, but
not quite to the extent of the East Course. The South Course is the most
wide open and the most forgiving of the three courses. The newest 9 holes of
the North Course opened two years ago and challenges your target golf
play. The older nine is still as long as ever, making the North Course the
longest of the trio. Not too many courses can test different aspects of your
game like the North Course does. The North Course is a combination of the
East and South courses and might be the most difficult, it is definitely the
longest.
