Located less
than 20 minutes from the Strip and 15 minutes from Downtown Las Vegas, The
Royal Links Golf Club, one of Golf Magazine's "Top Ten You Can
Play" for 1999, is at the top of our “ must play” list, while in
the Las Vegas area.
Built
to honor the rich tradition and history of the game, The Royal Links Golf
Club features holes inspired by the British Open rotation courses. You'll
cross the “Swilcan Bridge” to begin one of the most incredible golf
experiences on either side of the pond. Play holes inspired by the
"Road Hole" of St. Andrews, the famous "Postage Stamp"
from Royal Troon, and “Number 10” at Royal Lytham. Other courses in
the loop include Carnoustie, Turnberry, Royal Liverpool, Prestwick,
Muirfield and Royal Birkdale.
Designed
by Dye Designs International, Royal Links Golf Club is a premium, daily
fee, 18-hole golf course and is an excellent test of golf for golfers of
all abilities. The
championship layout is 7,029 yards with a course rating of 73.7, and a
slope of 135. Yardage from
the men’s tee is 6,602, and the ladies have it at 5,142. Reservations
are accepted 90 days in advance.
Forecaddies
are available and recommended, as many of the holes are truly Scottish in
design, including some hidden bunkers and other open style hazards.
Monuments have been erected at various locations throughout the golf
course indicating the spots where great moments in British Open history
took place and there is a “Champions Wall” near the practice green
honoring American champions of the British Open.
A
castle-style clubhouse completes the “Open” atmosphere and includes
the golf shop, stocked with quality merchandise, art and collectible
items, and Stymie's Pub, which serves fare similar to that served in many
English taverns.
The
Royal Links Regal Rotunda, The Great Hall and golf shop could be mistaken
for a museum of golf. On exhibit are the finest prints and bronze statuary
including limited edition, one of a kind items. The shop also displays
gift items like chess sets, hand painted chests, limited edition
wastebaskets by the Mad Moustache Company. Limited Edition Michael Roach
stone sculptures of Ol' Tom Morris, Harry Vardon, and Bobby Jones. Leather
bound collector's books by Allister McKenzie and David Stirk. As well as
signed limited edition leather bound books by renowned Bradley Klein.
