Harrah’s
Laughlin Resort & Casino
Laughlin, Nevada Highlights from October 10-13 Trip
Of course, this golf package wouldn’t quite be complete without some golf - since that was the main reason for this trip, right? The first course we played was the Emerald River Resort & Country Club. This course is a desert target course and is rated the most difficult in Nevada. The greens were so perfect that nobody even three putted. The course has an incredible watering system that kept us cool all day in 105 degree temperatures. U.S.G.A. Course Ratings and Slope Ratings are as follows:
In the evening the shows begin. You can check out the Greg Thompson "Great American Wild Wild West Show"! This is a high energy country music and dance production for the entire family. You can catch all the toe tappin’ fun nightly, except Thursdays or you can check out Greg Thompson’s "Hot Salsa" show. There’s nothing mild about it. A provocative, spicy fiesta of music and dance. Feel the heat nightly, except Thursdays. You also should go check out the entertainment at Club La Bamba where Melissa Spangler plays country and pop favorites (no cover charge here). She can really get the audience going! Country Superstar Kenny Rogers was at Harrah’s Laughlin during our stay but seeing his performance was not part of our package. But our trusty president, Michael Holder, surprised everyone with free tickets. Before you knew it we were there listening to his (Kenny’s, not Mike’s) unique style. He put on a fantastic performance! Sponsored by American Express, Kenny Rogers took the stage in Harrah’s 3,000-seat outdoor amphitheater. He sang such hits as Lady, The Gambler, Through the Years, You Decorated My Life, Coward of the County, and many more. Two hours later and he was still pleasing the crowd. If you’d rather be on the river than in it, you could take a cruise along the river. It takes you past all the casinos and on to the Dam. At night the view is quite spectacular! All the hotels are lit up and it’s just so beautiful and relaxing. You can also try your luck at other casinos by just taking a river taxi from one hotel to another. A few of us did this and ended up at the Edgewater Hotel & Casino and had the pleasure of listening to The Coasters. They were fantastic. And Mike was pleased also. While we listened to The Coasters he began dropping Silver Dollars in the slots. He put in six and zilch! But the seventh paid him six hundred. Just about enough to cover the Kenny Rogers tickets from the night before. Way to go Mike! As you could tell there was so much to do, and so little time. We hope to see you all on our next great trip, and don't forget to tell others. |
