Nestled in the heart of California's Sierra Gold Country, lies a newly
discovered treasure, Greenhorn Creek Resort. Located just outside historic
Angels Camp, home of Mark Twain's Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras
County, Greenhorn Creek Resort welcomes guests to an 18-hole Robert Trent
Jones II, redesigned golf course. Along with the breathtaking golf course
views, guests are treated to pool, tennis and exercise facilities, walking
and hiking trails, and brilliant star-studded night skies.
Already considered to be a good course, Robert Trent Jones II and his
design team have made it a great course. They completely rebuilt four
holes – Nos. 2, 3, 6 and 14. and reworked several more. They added, or
redesigned more than 50 bunkers, the majority featuring the distinctive
tongues that characterize Jones’s work.
“Put a little lipstick on a beautiful lady and she can be even more
dazzling,” Jones says. “I think that’s what we’ve done at
Greenhorn Creek.” It’s a lovely site,” Jones says. “It’s got
Gold Rush written all over it.
Jones has designed and remodeled more than 200 courses in 27 states and 29
countries, including the first golf course ever built in Russia. His
Northern California creations include Spanish Bay, Silverado (South
Course), Granite Bay, Serrano, Brookside, Poppy Hills, Squaw Creek and
Winchester.
The Resort’s amenities complement the course and combine to make
Greenhorn Creek a special resort: Greenhorn Creek Resort's meeting and
conference rooms are designed to meet the sophisticated needs of business
while, at the same time, offering charming ambiance for special occasions.
The Lodge is a 17,000-square-foot structure designed to create a casual,
comfortable feel that mirrors the splendid foothill setting. Striking
views of the golf course and surrounding hills are seen through large
French doors that flank twin fireplaces.
The Lodge is also home to CAMPS Restaurant, featuring an exhibition
kitchen, veranda overlooking the 18th green, dining Arbor with seating for
150, Bridal Green with seating for 250, bistro, private Library and The
Patio Grill offering casual breakfast and lunch.
The philosophy at Greenhorn Creek Resort is best summed up in the words of
Greenlaw “Fritz” Grupe, Jr., Chief Executive and Developer of
Greenhorn Creek Resort, “We really want to take care of people. Our goal
is to be the finest golfing, dining and lodging experience in the Gold
Country, and the way we’ll get that reputation is by earning it."
The Greenhorn Creek Golf Shop is located at 676 McCauley Ranch Road,
