Fire Hill Golf Club “The Natural” Gordon’s new Jewel.

It is a golf experience unlike any other. As the morning dew glistens in the early sun, you may be lucky to see a few fawns in the distance.

This challenging course is surrounded by towering pine trees and areas of water. American eagles may soar overhead as you tee off. In addition, the property adjoins the St. Croix National Scenic River Waterway and the Gordon Flowage Dam.

Planned and routed by Garrett Gill, the only Wisconsin Member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, Fire Hill should become a “Jewel” of Northwestern Wisconsin Golf Courses once all planned 18 holes are completed. At 9 Holes now it is a super golf course. The WSGA Official Course Handicapper noted the course distances, slopes, fairway and safety considerations are ideal for today’s modern course. A four tee system, Professional, Men's, Seniors and Ladies Tee, offers every golfer a challenge and reward to make for a fun and enjoyable day of golf. The greens are very large and have great huge collars which are the signs of a high quality, user friendly modern golf facility. Superior native, Derek Van Damme, designed the final features and locations of the tees, bunkers and greens to make each hole distinctly different from another. The few people that played Fire Hill last fall were thrilled and surprised that such a course was available to them at such a low cost per round. 

Fire Hill GC is located 7 miles West of Gordon on Cty Hwy Y. The property adjoins the National Scenic River Waterway, near the St Croix Flowage Dam. A golf experience unlike any other, the land and fairways gently roll through the acres of towering pines and areas of water. The lush bluegrass fairways surrounded by fescue roughs, planted less than 1 year ago, already have grown in extremely well.

Jim Smith is the Course Superintendent and is doing a wonderful job. Jim spent the last two years at Northland Country Club. Jim grew up in Solon Springs and first worked at Hayward Golf and Tennis Club. Fire Hill GC is truly fortunate to have found such an experienced and capable person who loves golf and is dedicated to making this golf course and it greens as good as Northlands someday. 

Every Monday AM is Ladies Day, every Tuesday AM is Beginner’s Day. 3 Leagues: Monday night 2-man scramble, Wednesday Night Men's League, Thursday morning (2 person) ladies league. Fire Hill also features a neat practice range, with 3 target greens and giant practice green, a new Club Car fleet and a starter building. The Club House is planned for later this year. The course is 3303 from the back tees and 1970 yards from the front tees. Rates are $11/9 holes, $10/car, $9.40/10 rounds.
