Coral Canyon Golf Course was recently recognized by the renowned ZAGAT Survey, Golf for Women magazine and Golf Digest magazine. According to the ZAGAT Survey, Coral Canyon achieved a rare rating of 20 or above, thus putting Coral Canyon into the category of “2003 America’s Top Golf Courses.” According to Golf for Women, Coral Canyon is among the “50 Best Courses for Women in the U.S.” in 2003. Golf Digest rounded out the positive reviews by naming Coral Canyon the “4th Best Golf Course in Utah.”

“We’re very please to be recognized by the ZAGAT Survey, Golf for Women and Golf Digest,” said Gary White, director of golf at Coral Canyon Golf Course. “These awards are not only because we have a great golf course, but they’re also a tribute to our hardworking staff inside the golf shop, restaurant and on the golf course.”

Some quotes from ZAGAT Survey panelists include: “absolutely wonderful course,” “beautiful and diverse,” “very well maintained” by “nice people,” and “not a brown spot on the whole course.”

Located in St. George, in what many call “Color Country” of southwestern Utah, Coral Canyon allows players to enjoy a rare, world-class golf experience on the doorstep of some of the world’s most famed natural wonders, including Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The course’s 7,029-yard, par 72 layout designed by Keith Foster, features 80 acres of turf, 55 sand bunkers, two lakes and a labyrinth of dry washes through the course.

At Coral Canyon there are several beautiful and well designed holes. The signature hole is a short par 3 that measures 122 yards from the back tee. It requires a very accurate shot to a moderate sized green, that is all carry over a deep ravine. Beautiful, just because of all the red rock outcroppings that surround this hole. It also displays Pine Valley Mountain in the background.

One of the best holes on the golf course, in my opinion, is #2. The second hole is a long par 5 that plays to 560 yards from the tee. It requires a long and accurate drive, with the landing area surrounded by desert terrain. The drive must be long enough to allow the average player to carry over the wash that runs across the fairway 320 yards from the teeing area. Only the longest of drivers can reach this green in two shots. This hole is well guarded with two deep bunkers on the right side of the green.

Coral Canyon Golf Course is owned and managed by Tempe, Arizona-based SunCor Golf. Additional SunCor Golf golf courses include: SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in Fountain Hills, Arizona; Sanctuary Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; Palm Valley Golf Club (36 holes) in Goodyear, Arizona; Club West Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona; Sedona Golf Resort in Sedona, Arizona; and StoneRidge Golf Course in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Ranked #29 in the USA and #1 in Utah by Golfer's Dream Magazine readers in our "2003 Top 100 Public Access Courses" poll.
